By November, the rainy season is over on Mexico’s Pacific coast, the seaweed is easing on the Riviera Maya, and Christmas prices haven’t started yet. So here’s where to travel in November from Canada: five places, each with at least one resort we’ve written a guide for.
We checked the weather and the seaweed reports in early October 2026.
Los Cabos
DRY BY NOVEMBERSEASONAL NONSTOPS

By November, Los Cabos is dry again, with days around 30ยฐC, while the evenings are cooler. The Pacific hurricane season officially runs until November 30. However, its busy months are July to October.
In November, there are nonstops to Los Cabos from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto, and Porter also adds Edmonton and Toronto flights from November 16. From Winnipeg, Ottawa and Montreal, the nonstops don’t start until December, so a November trip from there means a connection.
Go early in the month if you can, because prices climb toward US Thanksgiving, which falls on November 26 this year.
Good to know: at Hyatt Ziva, the ocean is too rough to swim most days, so the pools are where you swim. Our guide to Mexico’s beach flags and currents explains the flags you’ll see when you’re on the sand.

RAINY SEASON OVERNO SARGASSUM

On Banderas Bay, the rainy season runs from mid-June until mid-October. As a result, November is the first full month of the dry season.
In November, there are nonstops to Puerto Vallarta from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. From Halifax, you’ll need a connection.
Unlike the Caribbean side, there’s no sargassum on this coast. The trade-off is the water itself: it’s the Pacific, so it isn’t Caribbean turquoise, and the waves can be big.
Good to know: Grand Velas is a luxury resort. Our guide rates its rooms and food 4.5 out of 5, but its value 3.5.

SEAWEED EASINGDAY OF THE DEADNONSTOPS COAST TO COAST

Sargassum is a brown seaweed that drifts in from the Atlantic. It lands on this coast in bulk from about May to October. When it does, you won’t want to swim on a bad day. In early October 2026, while the season was still active, the head of the Quintana Roo Sargassum Monitoring Network said the state was entering its seasonal decline, and Mexico News Daily reported that less is expected into November and December. From November to April it’s mostly absent, though some can still wash up early in November.
Mexico marks the Day of the Dead on November 1 and 2. Xcaret Park, near Playa del Carmen, holds its Festival of Life and Death Traditions during those dates. This year it runs October 30 until November 2, in the afternoons and evenings. The festival is held inside the park, and Hotel Xcaret Mรฉxico includes entry to the Xcaret parks. Even so, check with the hotel that festival nights are covered before you count on them.
Cancรบn is also the easiest of the five to reach, since there are November nonstops from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax.

Hotel Xcaret Mรฉxico
Entry to the Xcaret parks included, 45 minutes to an hour south of Cancรบn’s airport
Catalonia Royal Tulum
Adults-only on Xpu-Ha Beach, 75 to 90 minutes south of Cancรบn’s airport

Barbados
INDEPENDENCE DAY, NOV 30SHOULDER SEASON

November is Barbados’s second shoulder season. The rainy season tapers off, so expect some showers, but prices sit a little lower and the island is quieter than it is in winter.
This year, you can also be there for a big celebration. Barbados marks 60 years of independence on November 30, 2026, and the Independence Day parade at the Garrison Savannah, near Bridgetown, draws locals and visitors alike. Through the month, Bridgetown is usually decorated in the national colours, with flags up across the island. Both resorts below are on the south coast, between the airport and Bridgetown.
In November, you can fly nonstop from Toronto on Air Canada or WestJet, and from Montreal on Air Canada. Halifax gets a weekly nonstop from December 17. From the rest of Canada, you’ll need a connection.

Aruba
OUTSIDE THE HURRICANE BELTSTEADY TRADE WINDS

If storms are what worry you about travel in November, Aruba is the pick. That’s because it sits outside the hurricane belt, with steady trade winds and some of the driest weather in the Caribbean.
In November, you can fly nonstop from Toronto on WestJet, Air Canada or Porter, and from Ottawa on Porter, starting November 7. Montreal’s nonstops start in December. From the rest of Canada, you’ll need a connection.
Rates in Aruba jump for the December to April high season, so November is still in the quieter months.
Good to know: getting to the sand from JOIA means a two-minute walk and a road crossing, since the resort sits across the boulevard.

Prices and storms in November
Generally, November and early December are good-value weeks to travel. Christmas and January through March, on the other hand, cost the most, and packages for those weeks sell out.
Similarly, the Atlantic hurricane season officially ends on November 30. So by November, its busiest stretch, mid-August to mid-October, is already behind you.
