It comes in a wide range of colors, so the pair in these photos is just the one we pulled to show it off. What the photos don’t tell you is the cut, and that’s the first thing to get straight before you order. This is a low-rise, cheeky, Brazilian-style bikini, and it shows skin. Once you know that, there’s a lot to like. It sits at 4.3 stars across more than 1,500 reviews, the fabric surprises people, and it’s one of the better-selling bikini sets in its category on Amazon.

The top and the bottom

The top is a sliding halter triangle with soft removable push-up padding and straps you tie yourself at the neck and the back, so you set the fit and the lift. The bottom is a low-rise Brazilian cut that ties at both hips. Those side ties aren’t decorative. Untie them and the bottom comes apart completely, which is worth knowing both for how you put it on and for what happens if a knot slips. The fabric is 82 percent polyester and 18 percent spandex with a ribbed, textured finish, and it carries three sustainability certifications for recycled content. Machine wash and you’re set.

Why it earns a spot in the suitcase

A string bikini like this packs down to nothing, which is half the appeal in a carry-on. The ties ensure this bikini will fit all week. If you happen to gain a few pounds, it won’t matter. Worth knowing

  • The side ties release the bottom completely. It takes some fiddling to put on, and if a tie comes undone in the water the bottom can come off. Fine for lounging and calm swims, less so for surf.
  • Sizing can pull in two directions. The top tends to fit while the bottom feels smaller than expected, so read the size chart and don’t lean on the auto-recommendation.
  • Durability is mixed. Most buyers say it holds up, but a few reported it wearing out, so treat it as a budget bikini, not an heirloom.
  • The padding is soft removable push-up, not built-in bra support. A very full bust won’t get much structure here.
