The DELSEY Chatelet Hardside 2.0 is a polycarbonate spinner dressed in vegan-leather trim, from the French company that’s been making luggage since 1946. DELSEY designed it to stand out, and you pay for that.
We haven’t travelled with this one ourselves, so what follows is the spec and what owners keep saying about it.

Polycarbonate, trimmed in vegan leather, five sizes
The shell is 100 percent virgin polycarbonate with vegan-leather accents and reinforced corner protectors. It rolls on four double spinner wheels, eight wheels in total. Security is a recessed TSA-accepted combination lock plus DELSEY’s SECURITECH zip, which the company rates at three times the strength of a standard zip. The lining has a SILVADUR treatment for odour control, and the interior has two full sections with compression straps, zippered mesh pockets, a laundry bag, a shoe bag and a removable hanger. Sizes run 19-inch and 21-inch carry-on, 24-inch, a 26-inch trunk and 28-inch, in Angora, pink, brown and navy. DELSEY backs it with a ten-year warranty. Two things this listing leaves out: a weight for any size, and the front-wheel brake DELSEY fits to other Chatelet versions. Every option here is the no-brake one.
The bag someone asks you about
Owners keep mentioning the compliments, because it’s a case you can spot from across the baggage hall. The trunk shape in the 26-inch is narrower and deeper than a standard suitcase, which two owners say makes it easier to steer down a hotel corridor when it’s full. Open it up and there’s also a place for shoes, a place for laundry and a hanger for the one outfit you don’t want creased.
What keeps coming up
The wheels and the zippers get most of the praise. Owners describe the ride as smooth and quiet and the double zipper as heavy duty, and several have taken it through European trips with cobblestones and half a dozen flights without a problem. The look and the capacity are the other two repeated positives.
Still, the critical reviews are a smaller group. For example, two owners found the zip only runs smoothly when both halves are lined up, one said the interior straps don’t stretch, and one had the combination lock jam shut in a hotel room. A few also report slow or no response when they tried to claim on the warranty, and one order arrived with the laundry and shoe bags missing.
Why this one
- Vegan-leather trim and corner protectors on a polycarbonate shell
- SECURITECH zip, which DELSEY rates at three times a standard zip
- Laundry bag, shoe bag and a removable hanger inside
- Five sizes from 19-inch carry-on to 28-inch, in four colours
- Ten-year warranty
Before you order
- Every option on this listing is the no-brake version
- The zip wants both halves lined up before it runs
- DELSEY doesn’t list a weight for any size here
Our take
Buy it for the look and the fitted interior, and know that you’re paying for both. If all you want is a tough shell, a plain polycarbonate case does that job for less.
